Why I Am Proud To Be Canadian

There are so many things to be proud of as a Canadian. We can be proud of our multiculturalism. We live in a diverse country that celebrates others cultures. It is inclusive in our schools, in our workplaces, in our churches and in our society. We value those who have disabilities. They are not marginalized because they have different abilities.
I am proud of our health care system. I have heard others in other countries talk about our system as an inferior model. When we personally experienced a health care crisis not only was my husband well taken care of, we did not have to worry about going into debt to pay for it. His prescriptions were almost 100 percent covered. Even special medications that had to be flown in for his needs. He spent four and a half out of six months in hospital with out charge to us. His treatment probably cost over a million dollars. I can't imagine going through a crisis like this and having to worry about health care costs. He had care in an exceptional facility with exceptional Doctor's, Nurses and social workers.
I appreciate those in our government who serve us and work to make our country a better place.
